Sole fem traveller guide

Hi
I have some time free in March. Thought of going to Mexico (from Sydney) but now am looking at Morocco....and time is fast running out.

I have always traveled independently by myself or with my husband but have read many glowing reports of people engaging a driver/guide and wonder if there are any issues with a solo mature traveler in terms of availability, costs etc? Any operators who you have used and liked?

Would it be best to pre-book or leave until in the country?

I would need to fly into Casablanca if I were to fly Qantas/Emirates and would have around three weeks.

Any suggestions re accommodation, highlights etc would also be welcome- interests are history, architecture, nature,

So many questions here, and not sure if you are looking for a group or a private driver/guide. I can only speak to our experience, which was wonderful!! We were also there in March which was a nice time to go as it was warm, but not too hot. We only had 8 nights and did 3 nights Marrakech, 1 night Ouazarzate, 1 night Merzouga with a night in the desert, and 2 nights in Fez. With three weeks you will be able to spend more time and see a lot more. If I had more time I would have like to have gone to Essouria, spent a night in the High Atlas, and definitely spent more time in Fez and gone to Volulibus.

There were four of us and we did use a private guide with Blue Men of Morrocco. He was fabulous and we had an amazing time in this fascinating country. Here is a link to my trip report which also includes pictures. http://www.fromhometoroam.com/catego...frica/morocco/

Thank you jgg. I would be happy with either a group or a private driver/guide. Reading your report now.

Hi all

I did send emails to the companies recommended on this site -awaiting replies.
I am excited about my somewhat impulsive trip - the last time it has happened was when I embarked on the Sydney-Calcutta then overland to London "hippy trail" in the much more peaceful times and when I was in my final year at uni . So here I go again at 60 ! Two sleeps to go...
