Snorkeling compared to Belize, Roatan, Caribbea, B.V.I's??

While we want to see the sights in Egypt our first passion is "quality" snorkeling. Are we going 9-12 hours for what we can see 4-6 hours from NYC??
We do not dive and found Fiji for example a disappointment for avid snorkelers.

We can only compare snorkeling in the Caribbean and the Maldives. Egypt wins hands down! We've been to Hurghada and Sharm and prefer the latter for good snorkeling. Our next trip will be to Marsa Alam (close to the Sudanese border) that is unspoilt and supposed to have even better snorkeling.
The sites in Egypt alone are definitely worth the trip!
