slide show; Tanzania; Jose's trip

I though some of you would enjoy the slideshow I prepared. It's from my recent Tanzania trip and has several shots I haven't shared before with my fellow fodorites.

Tips for better viewing:
- crank the volume up
- enter full screen mode (by "right-clicking" on the show after it starts)
- the whole show (play all) is 36 minutes; if you don't have the time, you can view the smaller chapters (4 to 10 minutes each) independently
- if you have not used Photodex before, it will ask you to install the plug-in: allow the installation; they are a very reputable business you can trust
- you will need a broadband connection to view it
- sometimes the server is busy: be patient

The slideshow is at:

Enjoy,

Jose

This is so amazing words cannot describe. So beautifully photographed and edited. Thank you so much for your labors. Definitely can see what you meant by "bokeh" in the bird photos. We are not worthy!!!!

Jose, I will make my 1st trip in Feb. to Tanzania. Watching your pictures and presentation brought me to tears. In less than 6 months I too will see this. Your music was perfect. One more reason for the tears was I will never be able to recreate my trip as well as you. Was this software easy enough for a real novice and which one was it. I see they have a no. of programs. Thank you again for all your work and sharing it so beautifully

Jose,
Your images are stunning and I love the presentation. It was especially fun looking at the photos and then thinking back to what you wrote about in your trip report. Very helpful as I am also going to Tanzania in Feb. 2008. Janet, when and where are you going?

Thanks everybody for looking and the nice words...

Janet:

The software I used to generate the slide show was "ProShow Gold" from Photodex. I have been using it for years. What I like about it is:
- easy to learn, specially the basic
- you can generate a slide show very quickly
- multiple output options (DVD, web etc)
- nice transitions and music editing/sync features

Cheers,

jose

I am glad this thread popped up again because I never gave you my rating of A++++++++ for the slide show. And I used to teach, so you can imagine that A++++++++ didn't come readily.

Really terrific.

Jose: your production on this was phenomenal! I very much enjoyed the excellent photos and the way you presented them just created a wonderful experience that makes it feel much more like the viewer is there in Tanzania.

Janet/Wildlife Painter: I also go in Feb. 08 but will just be arriving on the 17th so I will miss you Janet. I'll be at Olakira soon after you on the 26, 27, 28 of Feb. Have a great trip!

Jose, Your slideshow captured the essence of each area of Afreekah you visited! What enchanting photos, so many that made me stop and "oooohh" just as if on safari myself. Wouldn't believe you could capture a cute photo of a warthog. Are you a professional photographer? The lighting and framing of the wildlife was gorgeous, the ellies under the baobab, the sunlight illuminating the stripes of the zebras. Almost wanted to shield my eyes from the dust of the wildies running and kicking! Well done, well done. Deb

Deb:

I'm glad you enjoy the "slide show experience"! I keep coming back to it myself to revive the wonderful moments we experience during this trip.

To answer your question, I'm not a professional photographer but a serious amateur (with professional gear). There's more info about the equipment I use at the end of my trip report.

Cheers,
Jose

I cannot get Photodex to run on my Mac with Safari either. There appears to be no Mac compatability.

Jose,
How did you put together that globe which tracked your trip? Was that something off of google earth, or somewhere else? I would love to add something like that to a DVD of my trip
that I am making for my family.
thanks!!
