Skype in Egypt
my mother in law will be traveling to Egypt for three weeks and wants to keep in touch. She was reading up and discovered that Skype has been banned. AT&T is her service provider and she has gotten information on how much it will cost her to text and to call (she has an Iphone and Ipad if that makes any difference). Does anyone know of any other ways to communicate (video would be nice as well) less expensively? Many thanks!

Who told her SKYPE is banned? I don't use it as it's not that good on my computer, but it's been banned? Serious? How do they control that?
|
Casual: She read it online. I am not sure how they control it.
Lisa: Thanks for the suggestion. We are in the US but I will look at the link you provided and see if there is anything there. Thanks! |
I don't know how they do it, but it's certainly technically possible, since we know certain countries block certain internet sites within their borders (think China).

I'll check with my Face Book Buddies that use SKYPE (or HAVE used SKYPE) and see if they know something I don't about it.

Seems so - I guess. Face Book people come through in a flash! |
