Single Woman, 30's, African Safari Help
I'm a single woman in her early 30's and I'll be travelling alone. I'm interested in going on a 10-day safari (maybe a little shorter). I want to do all of the standard safari stuff (animals, migrations, etc). I don't want to "rough" it, but I don't need to be pampered either.
I'm looking for a group tour where I might be with other people in their 30's or 40's. I don't really want to be left to fend for myself. I'd like it all to be planned out by someone else ahead of time. I don't really know where to start looking for the right kind of tour or necessarily the right questions to ask.
I'd also like to not spend my life savings. Ideas? Help!

Hi - a friend of mine went on a GAP tour to Africa - the age range was broad but mainly under 45. She had a great time and has since done other GAP tours to South America (she is 36)
Here is a link to a 7 night Tanzanian itineray FYI

Looks like you've decided on Tanzania. Knowing your budget would help to narrow the options, such as transfers by road or plane.
I will offer that you can still travel on your own (without a group) and have everything planned in advance. That way you can have a holiday that is customised to fit your particular preferences. No guarantees on the ages of other participants in a group tour though, could be teenagers to octogenarians.

Hi,
if you are looking for group travel, I can recommend Drifters http://www.drifters.co.za/ a South African owned overland company with competitive pricing. I did 2 accommodated trips with them, can't comment on the camping trips.
Happy planning,
Pol

If I were a single looking for a group to join on a Tanzanian safari, I would email 'Basecamp Tanzania.' They are a high volume budget safari operator with great discounts for groups, Im sure they have customers looking for couples and singles to help keep down costs

Although most of their travelers are over 50, Overseas Adventure Travel (www.oattravel.com) has a good Tanzania safari. Their pricing includes the airfare, which makes their trips a good bargain, as that can easily run over $2000 from the US.
