Cellphones in SA are usually sold as part of a package, it comes with either a Vodacom, MTN or Cell-C Simcard. Provided your.. cellphone has not been locked in to an American Service Provider you should be able to use any of the three. If you can't get it working you could take it to a Vodacom, MTN or Cell-C shop. If you are here on a short visit why not rent one at the airport and save yourself running around.

Thanks, Karen.
I am leaning to renting a phone, instead of bringing my own and bothering with a chip and unlocking mine here etc. I am trying to get some prices. I have used vodafone a few times before but they seem to have changed names or something and their rates have almost doubled in the past six months!!! I will be in CT and am trying to find another company.
