Morocco itinerary

I am in the process of planning my 16 days in Morocco this July/August and was hoping to get some input. I'm just in the beginning stages, but wanted to know if you think the number of days in each place was enough (or too much!)

fly into Casablanca
Rabat - 2 nights
Fez - 3 nights
Erg Chebbi - 2 nights
Toudra Gorges - 1 night
Ouarzazate - 1 night
Marrakech - 4 nights
Essaouira - 3 nights
fly out of Marrakech

Is 4 nights to much in Marrakech? I thought there might be some fun day trips around this area (Ourika Valley, Toubkal, Imlil). Or if it is too long, are we missing any other fun places to visit? While we enjoy the cities, we also like to get out in the countryside and do some hiking.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think 3 nights in Marrakech are more than enough.

Hi - you could go to Chefchaouen after Fez. It's a beautiful mountain town and there are hiking opportunities there.

I enjoyed Taroudant, which is up in the Atlas Mountains about halfway between Marrakesh and Essouira. It's like a smaller version of Marrakesh, and there's one really nice hotel, the Palais Salam.
