Sheldrick Wildlife visit

Hi All,
We will be in Nairobi Sept 26-28 and are planning a visit to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. I understand their normal visiting hours are 11am to Noon. I would like to visit other than those hours (avoid the crowds?) and would happy to make a much larger donation to do this. Can anyone tell me more about how to go about this, please? (If you would like to communicate off forum, my email is - tdgraham at sbcglobal dot net. Please put Sheldrick in the subject line so I can find it amongst the spam).
regards - tom

Tom,
If you are a foster parent, they will make arrangements for you to visit later in the day...they arranged for us to come at 5:30. They were great!

Thanks Patty and Cindy
I knew I'd seen posting on it recently but my search didn't find the one on 8/05. I probably din't use the right combo of words. Anyway, that's what we'll do, become foster parents for 2 eles.
Thanks again ladies.
regards - tom

Thanks very much for your replies. I have adopted Challa and just got word that we have a reservation for August 31st to visit the orphanage. We arrive in Nairobi at 2:40 pm that day, so I hope that gives us enough time to get to the orphanage. Does anyone know how long it takes to get through Customs in the airport, and how long it takes to drive to the park? Annie

akb,
Assuming your flight arrives on time, you should have no problem getting to Sheldrick by 5pm. Allow 1/2 an hour to 45 minutes each for both immigration/customs and the drive to Sheldrick. Actually I've found immigration and customs to be relatively quick at NBO. It's baggage off loading that seems to take the longest.

cary999:

The best thing to do is contact the Trust directly at: [email protected]
co.ke.

Angela will be able to get you the correct answer. I think it would depend on whether she or Dame Daphne would be available at the time and not at one of their outposts.

At other times of the day the rhino and elephants are out in the bush and it would be impossible to see them other than at the mudbath or on their trip back to the stockades in the evening.
