Sharm-El-Shiek.

Flying out to Sharm El Shiek for a week on the 18th March. This will be the first time we have been there. This is primarily a "rest and soak up the sun" trip.

However, as I am apt to get fidgety after two days on a sun bed, can anyone reccomend something to do or see during our short break,....apart from the sand?

Many thanks.

Find a Sun-n-Fun kiosk and sign up for excursions with them. They have some great tours to take. They go to St.Catherines for the night climb up and the sunrise. They do a couple of snorkel trips that will keep you busy all day and take you out to some great places. They offer a 4 wheeler ATV trip too. They just have all sorts of activities available. You'll have a great time.
The rest of the time you can play volleyball and other games with the hotel animation team.

Have fun!

We really enjoyed going to st katherine's and climbing mt sinai as well. We hired a private car to do it during the day- we didn't want to do the night climb and lose a day w/sleep. We only passed a few people and really enjoyed it. If you can find a good driver- i would do it that way- as opposed to the cattle heard going up for sunrise.

I didn't do the atv trip but i heard that was fun.

Thanks guys, that's very helpful.

I think I'll give the volleyball a miss though. I dislocated my shoulder two days into a two week holiday in Kefalonia playing that game. My wife was not best pleased.

Cheers!

We hired a 4WD with driver/guide to take us to the Coloured Canyon and Dahab for the day. Our 'walk' in the canyon was about one and a half hour. The canyon is of a stunning beauty. The rocks vary in colour from white over yellow, ochre, pink to almost red. Sometimes the 'path' is very difficult with steep climbs, crawling under rocks, and on many occasions the bottom of the canyon is so narrow that you can’t even put one foot next to the other.
After the canyon we moved on to Dahab which is far less touristy than Sharm.
We found this to be a nice excursion ... in the sand. ;-)
