serenghetti in october?

serenghetti in october?

am going to tanzania in 2nd week in october and have read that its not the best time to see the herd migration in the serenghetti, anybody know if its worth passing up or going north to kenya instead?

We're talking about animals here, so no guarantee from year-to-year. Normally, the herds are still in the Mara in Kenya early October, but should there be even a drop of rain, the herds will start their return to the Serengeti. And just as easily, if the rain stops, the herds will head back into Kenya. So they can be anywhere. If you do visit the Serengeti at that time, your best bet is to get accommodations in the North and/or Northeastern area.

We visited Serengeti in October last year. Some of the migration were already in the Seronera area and as a result we saw large herds & lots of cats. Trip report link is below.
