serengeti luxury in may

Hi, would appreciate any help on this. My wife and I have been to south africa in the sabi sands 5 times. We have stayed at some over the top lodges. I now want to go to the serengeti with the hope of seeing the great migration. We are looking to go in the last week of may or the 1st week in June. The issue is that my wife has gotten used to the luxury lodges in south africa (royal malewane, tinga, dulini lodge) and when I show her photos of the serengeti tented camps, she said she would rather go back to south africa. ( i want to see something new, so I am looking for a way we can both be happy) Can any one advise on a luxury lodge that will be on par or close to it, with south african lodges, AS WELL as being in the area of the migration in late may early June. I have seen SIngita in the serengeti on the web, but the price seems simply outrageous at over 1600 a night per person!
So any recommendations for a luxury lodge in the serengeti with good chances of seeing the migration at the end of may early june? Thanks

With the exception of the Singita properties in the Grumeti area of the Serengeti, and that's mainly the lodge... you do not make a like-to-like comparison with most in South Africa. This doesn't mean there aren't luxe properties... just different. If every place was the same... boring, boring.

For end May and as this would be peak season in the Grumeti area, consider the Singita Faru Faru or Sabora Camps.

End-May if it's this year is still low-season (end of the rainy period) where some properties are closed. As 1st June all goes into peak season and at this date, what might be available is likely 'little' - it's rather late to be booking for this timeframe in '13.

At Ngorongoro there is the Crater Lodge with a good price if in May, but way up there as June. Personally I feel this Lodge is 'over-the-top' with crystal chandeliers, draperies and other 'too much stuff' - and this even after having spent time at the Singita properties in South Africa. But some people like it.

Out in the bush and bear in mind this would be tents vs often cottage type in SA, there are the andBeyond Serengeti Under Canvas/SUC Camps, if open in May, but for sure are in June.

Best contact a few tour operators/outfitters and see what they have to offer and what's available.
