Selous- Mafia Diving and baggage

We have a trip booke in Aug/Sept. 6 days at Selous Safari camp followed by 10 days on Mafia Island. As we are both keen divers we want to take our own gear but am concern re the weight restrictions (15kg) as our gear plus normal baggage weighs in at around 25kg! Coastal aviation dont seem able to provide per kg cost for excess. We are flying via Dar on to Mafia and are told we could leave the gear with Coastal Aviation and pick it up on the way back to Mafia.
How strict is athe application of the allowance?
Has anyone any idea of how much they might charge?
What is the diving like on Mafia at that time of year?

It might not even be the cost, but that the plane can't accommodate the excess weight. Also, do you need your dive equip at Selous vs your safari clothing o Mafia. Coastal has this situation regularly, so it's easy enough to leave what you don't need for one location with Coastal both ways.

Where are you staying on Mafia. Boy, 10-days. I'm not a diver, rather a dipper, but a friend who is a professional diver said Mafia has probably the best he's encountered.

Do report in on both the Selous and Mafia on your return.
