Sea Sands Lodge St. Lucia

We're thinking of using this as our base in the St. Lucia area. Website looks lovely. Anyone had any experiences, good or bad, with this place? We will be driving from Johannesburg, stopping at Cleopatra Mountain Lodge (for the food!), then on to St. Lucia. Is the drive from Mooie (sp?) to St. Lucia an easy one? Thanks for all the great posting on this board - it has made our trip planning much easier! Sharon

Don't know the Sea Sands. If you mean Mooie River, I haven't driven from there to St. Lucia but have driven from Durban to St. Lucia and the roads are quite good.

thanks for the information, tuckeg. I also found a great website that has driving times as well as distances between various places (a mapping thing like google), and it was a big help, if its to be believed... :)

stamiya, if you mean the Shell Geostar site (www.shellgeostar.co.za), then I think the overall distance and time figures will be largely OK. But be a little wary of the detail. I tried to follow them once for a trip and they weren't totally accurate. And recently I looked up a very simple journey for someone involving a major highway followed by a regional road. So just one change of direction in over 200km. But instead of saying follow the N3 for 100km (or whatever), it broke up that part into about 30 segments, alternating between "freeway" and "N3! Potentially very confusing.

Presumably the "freeway" segments were every time it came close to a town, even though the highway bypassed every single one of them.

Thanks for the heads up, Arthur; sometimes MapQuest does the same thing here!
