Sayari Camp
I have been entertaining the thought of doing a safari next summer. One of the camps I have been considering is Sayari in the northern Serengeti. According to one of the operators I have been talking to, Sayari is going to be moving and adding additional tents. Does anyone know if this is true or any details? I wanted to go for the seclusion and it sounds like this may not be a good choice for that. Thanks.

If you want fewer people in camp there are other options nearby (CCA Under Canvas & Nomad are the best known but there are several others) - only specialist outfitters have full listings of alternative mobile/seasonal camps. |
Sayari Camp is the only permanent camp up in the Lamai wedge of the serengeti and is especially good for the migration in the Summer months
I would go there |
Even with more tents, the area itself will still be pretty quiet as there aren't any other camps anywhere nearby.
I didn't love Sayari (but stayed in the old one; the new one was still being built). Part of that was the accommodation, so that will no longer be relevant, but I also didn't warm half as much to the management team, not least because of confusion over who was in which role and responsible for what. |
Another camp to consider in the northern area would be Lemala, relatively new (1+/yrs) and has received good reviews.
