Saudi Arabia and Oman?

I am planning to go back to Israel, Jordan, Turkey and Greece someday and was wondering if taking side trips to Saudi Arabia and Oman is worth a visit. I am worried about my safety, especially in Saudi Arabia. Are these countries safe and would you recommend visiting them? What should I see in both countries. I would like to stay away from big cities, thanks!

Oman is a fantastic place to visit.

Saudi, not-so-much. We lived there back in the 90's. At the time they didn't issue tourist visas. I'm not sure if that's still the case or not, but it really isn't a tourist-friendly kinda place.

Saudi Arabia still does not issue tourist visas. It would not be possible to go there under the circumstances you're describing.

I didn't know that Saudi doesn't issue a tourist Visa. Your reply Jeff and Melnq8 is really helpful.
