I tried to do this earlier to-day but I think somethinng
went wrong.

I am 11 years old and live in SE England.

I have to do a project on travellers in the desert.

What Clothing and Equipment should a traveller to the Sahara in Southern Tunisia take with them?

Thank you,

Two years ago my husband and I drove through the Sahara on our way to South Africa. We took a 1960 Land Rover, 10 five-gallon cans of gasoline, lots and lots of water, sand planks (aluminum planks which we shoved under the tires to get out of deep sand), a shovel, compass, an assortment of spare parts (remember, no service stations in the desert), plus a big winch attached to the front bumper.

As for clothes, we wore long pants, T-shirts, boots, hats, and sunglasses during the day. At night, the temperature dropped so sweaters came in handy.

We were completely self-sufficient. It took us about 15 days (we got lost a few times) to drive through Western Sahara to Nouakchott, Mauritania. We'd love to do it againčthe desert is beautiful.
