Reviews please!
We are planning our honeymoon to SA in June. Here is where we are thinking about staying - please let me know if you have advice or reviews of these places:
1) V&A Hotel or Commodore in Cape Town
2) Blue Train to Pretoria (worth it?)
3) Tanda Tula Tented Camp in Timbavati
4) Harry's Camp Mala Mala (and is 3 nights better than 2)
5) Westcliff or Ten Bompas in Jo'burg
6) Palace of Lost City in Sun City
7) any info on bus/shuttle transport between Jo'burg airport and Sun City
8) any info on Magic bus in Jo'burg

I would greatly greatly appreciate input. Thanks.

Stayed a the V&A - found it great. Consider the Cape Grace though. Forget the Commodore.
Blue Train definitely worth it.
Palace of the lost City, huge laugh for 2 or 3 days (or until you loose all your money!)
Can't help with the other ideas.
Have fun!

We spent a week in Sept. at V & A Hotel. The best location of all hotels on the water front...our room faced the water and Table Mountain--spectacular. Service was great... went above and beyond. Very friendly staff. Breakfast was great...anything and everything was included in our room rate. We had just come from a 9 day safari in Botswana so it was great to take the elevator down and you're in the heart of the Cape waterfront with all the restaurants & fun shops.
In Jo'burg, we stayed for 2 nights at The Mount Grace Country House & Spa. This was an incrediable experience. It's in the mountains one hour from the airport...it really only took 30 minutes going but 1 hr. back. It is a little bit of heaven on the mt. top. Our room was huge with even larger balcony looking out over the valley. The decor is spectacular. The spa was the best we've ever experienced. Food was delicious, great wines and wonderful, friendly service. We had a 30 some hour flight so we were tired, had arranged with Wilderness Safaris to meet us and transfer to & from the Mt. Grace. We started in Jo'burg, then Botswanna then a week in Cape and home. It was perfect.

Not that the information you just provided is any less useful for the many current site visitors but, just a heads up that the original poster, Taylor, posted his question back in November 2001 and is probably no longer even reading the board.
I'm curious as to why postvanderburg topped the thread?
: o )
