safari tour operators

Planning a trip in Sept. of 2008. Has anyone had experience using Premier Tours out of Philadelphia or African Adventure Company out of Fort Lauderdale. Looking at 3 nights in Cape Town 3 nights Singita Boulders and 2 nights Singita Lebombo.

I used PT for our last trip to Southern Africa and am using them again for our upcoming East Africa trip. They have been great to work with and our previous trip was flawless. Africa Adventure in FLL also gets good reviews here.

I have used AAC and all was perfect. They were helpful when there were problems outside their control on the ground. I have read positive comments on Premier Tours

Why not try booking direct to see if the prices are cheaper!

Why don't you try Safari 2 Africa they are based in Cape Town and are offer special rates for Singita, so it's really worth contacting them. www.safari2africa.com

When you say "book direct" does that mean each lodge, or is there a tour operator located in Tanzania that will do it for you, especially if you have figured out where you want to go? Last time I used a Travel Agent who merely had someone else do all the booking, yet she made quite a nice sum on it. I hope to save enough for more trips by doing my own searches (with the help of all the forums I read!) and booking direct, yet I am not sure how to find these people. Thanks! D.

Dana -

If for your last trip you used a regular TA, they probably contacted an African specialist to handle your safari.

What you have to do is contact a tour operator/outfitter who specializes in East Africa. They will arrange all your needs once on the ground in Kenya/Tanzania - transfers, internal flights, room/board, vehicle, guides, etc.

Do a search on this board for "Tanzania tour operators" (w/o the "") and you'll find in the left column threads that contain names of various operators/outfitters that have been used with satisfaction.

Agree with Africaj - CCAfrica! They are wonderful to work with and great properties! Great Mission/Philosophy.

I know this is not really very helpful but the words safari, tour and operator in sentence immediately makes me nervous. If you have a credit card and access to the internet just do it yourself!
