Sabi Sands & Botswana
Please recommend safari lodges in Botswana & Sabi Sands that won't break my bank.
|
In Sabi Sand there's Arathusa, Elephant Plains and Nottens, all of which are good values. You could also look at Timbavati (Kings Camp) or Klaserie (Gomo Gomo).
You could consider Botswana in the Green Season, ~November-March when rates are much lower. Some companies (e.g., Kwando) have specials then that are outstanding. Otherwise, consider the bank broken....rates during June to October are likely the highest for African safari destinations. |
See this excellent thread on what you need to know on budget friendly options in Sabi Sands and other S. African private reserves. The advice above on Botswana is spot on assuming you are referring to the Okavango delta.

Will echo above replies.
Next to Sabi Sand reserve is Kruger National Park. A great way to begin your safari is to drive yourself around KNP for 3-4 days before going to the private safari camp(s). (Leave car at safari camp for pick up by rental company). If you live in USA (like me, California) a few days in Kruger adjusting to time change etc is good. Car rental, gas, huts in KNP camps, camp meals, park fees, etc should cost around $200 per day for 2 persons. (Significantly less than $2,000 per day in Bots!!!)! http://www.sanparks.org/parks/kruger/ regards - tom |
