SAA reservation site issues
 

I have never had so much trouble trying to make flight reservations as I have had with SAA. It will not work.
So I called the USA call center. But I am on West Coast, work daytime hours and it is closed by the time I can call in the evening.
All I want is a flight from JNB to Richards Bay in Nov. Really frustrating. Anyone else having problems lately?

I think you'll just need to find a way to call them during their East Coast hours (I believe they are in Tampa, FL). I called them a couple of weeks ago to book a flight from Vic Falls to JNB and had no trouble. Same price as on their South African website. Ticket delivery via FedEx just 2 days later. They did charge $15 for the ticket delivery though (FedEx is the ONLY delivery method they will use)...

On line booking?

If you have an amex, call them and have them book it.

My experience was that online booking of flights within Africa can only be done if there is a SAA ticket office near to you where you can physically pick up a paper ticket; e-tickets for such bookings are not available. Thus, in the U.S. you need to phone the SAA call center in Florida to book intra-Africa tickets and have paper tickets FedEx'd to you.

I also find the SAA site difficult. Call them when you get up in the AM.

It can be done. All you have to do is when the main SAA web-page opens, click South Africa as the originating country, then you can find the flight and book it. If you use U.S. or U.K. as your originating country you can't do it. They will charge it in Rands, so use Capital One or similar to avoid the conversion fee.
P.S. It worked on my Kruger booking. and you can print out an E-ticket. You must have the credit card you charged the tickets to with you when you get to the airport.

I also have booked SAA tickets on line with South Africa as the originating area and have printed out e-tickets no problem but it definately wouldn't work when I put in Australia.

I had been clicking on SA as originating country with no luck.

I did finally have success today. I used another computer and booked during business hours. So I don't know if it was that or if the site was running again.

But then it didn't email me the confirmation. So I had to call the US call center and get it checked out. We are booked and that is the last major piece of our planning puzzle!
