SAA partner?

Has anyone heard any more about when SAA will drop its partnership with Delta, and who their new partner will be? I'm just wondering whether it will be an airline with a strong midwest presence, and whether that will be any more convenient for us here in central Illinois than Atlanta.

SAA is now partnered with the Star Alliance. Their most prominent airline in the states is United.

The switch is official, but is taking a long time to execute. But you should able to book award travel with Star Alliance miles within a month or two. No dates have been officially stated.

Thanks, Ericka. Chicago is one of United's hubs, so no matter what east coast city SAA will be departing from, there'll probably be a good connection between there and O'Hare.

All my frequent flyer miles are, unfortunately, on American, so if I want to use them to get to Africa, I'll probably have to go through Europe, and use British Airways from there. I'm thinking about doing that next time, if I can have a stopover in Europe.

I read that SAA will be using Dulles Airport (IAD) in Washington burbs of Virginia. And United does fly into IAD, but I haven't read when SAA flights will beging flying in/out of IAD.
