SA, but moderate price and customized

Message: I've been searching a few sites with tours to SA, and concluded that while I want help planning the trip, all the tours I've seen are not exactly what I want in terms if itenerary or price. So what I need is help customizing a package, but ability to get some of the low rates that companies such as 2Afrika seem to be able to get in terms of airfare, accomodations, etc. There are also some particular lodges that I want to stay at. Can anyone recommend a travel agent/company who can assist? Should I just call some of the ones I see mentioned on these boards and see what they can do?

Hey San Antonio Girl!
I actually planned my own trip to South Africa (leaving on May 5th) and was able to put together exactly the itinerary I wanted and book accommodation and car hire directly.
I did book the flight with a travel agent as the South Africa trip tacks onto a trip I had already booked through the agent to Botswana and Namibia.
If you want to do the same, please let me know if I can help in any way.

Hi sanantoniogirl-
2Afrika also puts together safaris to suit individuals at a cheaper rate than you can book individually. Just call Ken, or email him for details. Some folks here have done that. They seemed to be happy with him. Worth a try. Liz

sanantoniogirl -

Why not tell us what it is that you are looking for and what you don't seem to be able to find from whichever tour operators you've researched?

If we have an idea of what is is that you would -
-like to do/see/visit
-where (country/city/safari/other)
-total number of days for time in-country (don't include fly to/from USA)
-how many days at each stop
-type of accommodations (hotels/lodges/B&B/camps)
-group trip or independent
-time of year
-your budget -

I'm sure some of us would be able to advise whether it is doable or not, even provide ideas or suggestions, before you even go to a tour operator.

Hi Sanantoniogirl,

I know a good tour operator in Cape Town. Her name is Lisa O'Mahony and her website is www.oafrica.co.za.

Good luck
