Israel message boards

Does anyone know of more active message boards about travel to Israel? What I want to start researching is some kind of Holy Land tour that I would like--first find a tour, then research other things to do in Israel.

You can try www.lonelyplanet.com, but they are more geared to independent travel, but still will give you lots of ideas. Oh, Click on the Thorn Tree to get to the message boards.

I don't know of any other or better boards than this one.

But you could easily find info on Israel by surfing the net, searching for ISRAEL on search engines, or post more specific questions here. This place is a GREAT place for getting information. I spend hours here whenever planning my trips to Europe.

Here is one good Israeli tour site you might want to explore:

http://www.israeltour.com/

Also, the Israeli ministry of tourism has offices in most large cities in the US. They are geared for Christian tourism as well as Jewish. I believe it's easy to find one in your area (NY city?).

You can contact the Israel Government Tourist Office at the Israeli Consulate in Chicago; I think their email is [email protected] and they will provide Egged Tour brochures. If I read you right, you want to start with a guided tour then go off on your own once you know the ropes.

If you have a slant such as religious, archeological or ecological, such theme tours are also available, as well as kibbutz tours.

I've been twice and used Palex Tours and found them reliable for lodging and other advice when traveling on my own; they have a website.

There is really no shortage of Israeli tourist information; the country is set up for it, and there are lots of books.

For transport from the US I like Bell Wholesale Travel in Illinois which has good fares on Air Canada; I like the airline and like their schedule.

Brent
