Royal Jordanian or El Al: For Tel Aviv with Petra Side-trip

hi all! we plan to visit Israel on March 1 to March 10, 2015. I am going to use redemption points and will have the choice between flying RJ or El Al from Hong Kong which is a long-trip. I am a very nervous flyer and only fly with Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, Qatar, Emirates. But for this route, my choice will only be limited to El Al and RJ. can anyone pls comment regarding these two carriers. i understand that both are very good airlines.

We plan to dedicate 7 days in israel visiting both Tel Aviv and Jerusalem/Bethlehem. also want to visit Dead Sea and i understand that we can fly to Eilat and visit the Dead Sea from there and then to Petra.

Option 1 if we use RJ: HK-Amman-Tel Aviv by plane. on way back from Eilat-Dead Sea, Petra, then Amman (outbound)

Option 2: if we use El Al: HK-Tel Aviv- Eilat (by air) so we can go to Petra. then back again to Tel Aviv (outbound)

pls comment which airline would be best suited for this type of itinerary

thanks for all your help

The routing is basically the same for either air carrier. There's only 1/hr flight time between AMM and TLV or vice versa. Long, long, long... but after 8/hrs you feel no pain. If seeking the safest air carrier... simple, go with El Al.
