Also, there will be an announcement shortly about a well known and very capable Fodorite who is joining forces with that unmentionable venture and everything will be well covered in my absence.

If this is who I think it is, congratulations to both of you! What a team!

Leely Feb 18th, 2006 11:24 AM

BwanaMitch? ;)

Roccco Feb 18th, 2006 11:26 AM

Leely,

No...I killed Bwana Mitch. ;)

sundowner Feb 18th, 2006 11:36 AM

I'm thinking your new partner is female. Am I right?

Roccco Feb 18th, 2006 11:42 AM

Sundowner,

Unless this person is hiding a secret that I do not know about, then I would say "no." ;)

But, just so the females are not completely excluded, Alexsandra has been assigned the Latin American/Spanish market, however, since she is fluent in Spanish (despite the fact that she is not even of latin descent). She is going through boot camp right now, and with four prior visits, even against her will she has picked up quite a bit of experiene! :)

Rocco-
Have a GREAT time in those WONDERFUL looking luxurious lodges and s-t-e-t-c-h-i-n-g out in ANY seat you want in the Land Rovers! And, if you adopt any of the wild dogs, please be sure to keep them away from the new dishwashers at Olduvai Camp....
Oh, and don't forget those green balloons to drop on us poor misguided Micato people down below!
All kidding aside - have a GREAT time and I will look for your report to read and review as soon as you get back! Take lots of pens and paper...
Lynda

BTW Congrats to Rocco and Julian in their new partnership! Wishing you great success in months and years to come!

divewop Feb 19th, 2006 08:08 AM

Well I guess Kavey answered Sundowner's and Leely's question.
I second the congrats and would love to hear more about it sometime soon!

cooncat2 Feb 19th, 2006 10:32 AM

Well, I'll be. Congrats, you two. :-D

Leely Feb 19th, 2006 10:36 AM

Julian,
Are you sure about this? I've heard all business associates are required to wear The Vest...

Congratulations. Very exciting for all parties.

Kavey Feb 19th, 2006 10:38 AM

Julian and I had a chat a short while ago about setting up businesses in the UK, accountants, contract issues and so on... I could only help a little as I'm not in the travel business but hopefully gave him some starting points...

He then let me know that he was going ahead in setting up a UK arm for Rocco's business... so hello new partnership!

:D

Roccco Feb 19th, 2006 05:30 PM

All very exciting, everything that is happening. Hopefully, I will start packing tonight.

I just picked up a cheap pair of binoculars, 10x50 maginification, from Radio Shack, and I will also take along my Steiner "Safari" binos, as well. The last thing I need that will add a certain comfort level will be a couple more camera batteries, which will get me up to about 8 batteries. I DO NOT want to be charging my batteries every day. It would be great if I could charge them only about 3 times during the entire safari, but I may need about 10 batteries total to accomplish that goal. Total safari nights are 13 nights so I figure I will go through an average of 3-4 batteries per day.

Thanks for all the support and the warm sendoff! :)

Rocco - What sort of bag/backpack do you use for your camera gear during the flight? Oh - I forgot - there is also THE VEST... hmmm. That does make a difference, doesn't it. :^o
