Road trip: R703&R704

Hello everyone !
It's my first post here, and since I'm from Romania, please excuse my english.
So, next year at the end of april I will travel for 10 days to Morocco.
I'm a big enthusiast of mountain roads.
So, I want to travel from Marrakech to Merzouga in two steps:
- Marrakech to Agoudal via R 704 (overnight somewhere around here)
- Agoudal to Merzouga via R 703.
About R704 I found a lot of information, everyone says it's OK.
My question is about R703 - what is traffic conditions on this road ? I will rent a car.
Thank you !

Well despite what 'everyone' says, the R704 will lead you into trouble. The first 70km or so is asphalt and then the next 50km to Agoudal is a piste (rough track). All car rentals will have a clause forbidding you to drive on pistes. You *might* get through with a 2 wheel drive vehicle however you run the risk of serious damage.

The R703 is fine.

R704 asphalt heading north: E15 Lower Dades Gorge
R704 piste heading south: E23 Upper Dades Gorge
R703 asphalt heading south: E11 Todra Descent

@TimCullis
Thank you very much for your kind reply.
Indeed, in the meantime I manage to talk by email with two hotel owners, one from Agoudal and one from Merzouga.
Sadly, both tells me that it's not a good idea to drive from Msemrir to Merzouga via Agoudal, it's very time consuming and very difficult.
Seems to me that I'm not going to drive and see Tizi-n'Ouano pass...that's it, safety first...
Once again, thank you and I will follow your advice !
