Riads in Marrakesh
My wife and I are considering a week in Marrakesh and are considering a number of riads. We have been traveling independently for over 40 years but are slowing down a bit. We will use Marrakesh a base for a guided tour to the Atlas, a cooking class, and a tour of the souks.
Here are some riads we are considering. They are all between $500 and $650 for the week. Our one concern is more than a flight of stairs. These all have A/C, wifi, and what appears to be an enticing building and a panorama of the Atlas. Please let us know if you have had any experience with these establishments or can suggest others of a similar price and amenities. Riad Chameleon Riad Alnadine Riad Chafia Riad Charcam Riad Djebel Thank you for responses in advance. |
Don't know those, but they seem cheap enough. Have a look at The Telegraph's travel section. There are many articles on riads in Marrakech. BTW, congrats on your breaking out of your BCN bind ! You will enjoy Maroc.

Thank you.
A BCN bind sounds like something they now have a prescription for with a name consisting of x's and zeds. (Shh, We have actually been to other places besides Barcelona.) |
I looked up some of the places The Telegraph recommended. Some are sold out for our dates and were too pricey for us. But as you can see, I looked into your suggestion.

IMD - I'm not sure if I can be helpful on the places you've mentioned as we stayed at Riad L'Orangeraie -which I would recommend but it is more expensive. One thing I would bear in mind is noise. Some places have rooms on the ground floor but they may open right onto a shared public courtyard, make sure it's not right next to a bar/seating area as it can be noisy. If possible look for a ground floor room opening onto the second quieter interior courtyard.
Are you considering Fez? We liked Marrakech but I loved Fez. |
Thanks Well, we have settled on Riad Djebel which is cheaper than L'Orangeraie, and has less vowels.
We do want to travel about too much, but we will make some day tours. We realize we will not see a lot Morocco. |
<which is cheaper than L'Orangeraie, and has less vowels. >
Both are indeed significant criteria ;) |
You must economize where you can.
