Riad in Marrakesh, Morroco
My husband and I are going to Marrakesh October 2016 after walking the Camino Portuguese. I need some recommendations on a Riad for our stay. So far, I have checked out Badi and Reves d' Orient. They look good but there are so many to choose from and I am getting overwhelmed. Would love to hear from anyone who has stayed in a Riad in Marrakesh recently to narrow down the focus. Would like to keep price under $150 per night.
We are looking at using Desert Majesty for some day tours as well. Anyone used them recently? Thanks for any help you can give me. |
I understand how overwhelming you could be when trying to pick a riad, therefore I chose a different one every time. But the last one I stayed in 2013 - Riad Villa El Arsa - is good enough that I might stay again next time I visit. The riad is not a big and luxurious one (so it costs less) and the host is wonderfully helpful. He even met us at the square to make sure we would not get lost. The square is very near, so you're right at the centre of action at all time.

Sallam 'lekum livetoroam,
Well done on planning ahead for October 2016. Whereas May, June and September have historically been the busy months for us, October has become much busier in recent years, especially in Marrakech. You're right, the choice of medina accommodation in Marrakech is surely overwhelming nowadays. I'm sure you'll be given many suggestions on this forum and others, but some ol' faithfuls for us include Peggy Ward-Engh's Riad Amirat al Jamal, Lisa May's Dar Charkia, Anna and Guy's Riad Jonan, and Didier and Sebastian's Dar Vedra. You can't go wrong with Desert Majesty...please give Felicity my regards if you contact her. Happy planning! Darren Humphrys |
And have a look at the Telegraph. It just had an article on this in the Travel section.

It is good to hear that you are planning the tour which is an year from now. That is actually very good when you have time better plan as soon as we can.
I completely agree with Darren about the hotels. |
We stayed at Riad Sekkat a few years ago and can highly recommend it. It is located in the Medina. The rooms, service, location, meals, excursions, airport transfers and all communication with the owner were all wonderful. You can read our review on TripAdvisor.
