Restaurants recommendations Istanbul/Antalya

Do you have restaurants recommendations in Istanbul and Antalya? This makes a while since we went there, and we're taking "first-timers" friends of us along! Many thanks in advance.

Two come to mind. At the upper end of Istiklal Caddesi is the venerable Haji Baba. Go early because it can get crowded around eight p.m. The other is the Sultanat, on a side street near the tram stop near the Blue Mosque, Sultanahmet. Immaculate. Great for lunch or dinner. Ask them to show you the kitchen. Patronized by local business people at lunch. Reasonable.

I'm planning to go backpacking in Turkey in August. Do you have any recommendations? I've heard from friends that Antalya is a must-see.

Thanks.

Yes, Antalya is a "must-see" as the old part of town is nice to visit, as well as the marina. Then you have several archeological sites to visit around the town in a 50 miles area. On top of that, the "Turquoise" coast on the west side offers great beaches and landscapes. However, it is getting more and more touristy, with many "anarchic" touristic buildings.
