restaurants in Cairo

We will be staying at the Nile Hilton and would like to know about some restaurants. They do not have to be nearby. We are looking for non touristy restaurants with the local food--where the locals eat, but nice. Is alcohol readily available in most restaurants? Thanks

We were in Egypt a few years ago. The best food we ate in 12 days was at the food court in the mall. Think we were at the Nile Hilton too. Had an awful dinner on a boat that was docked on the Nile...a really terrible buffet. Also were on a very nice boat down the Nile and the food was strange. I don't thinlk Egypt is know for it's food. But it was a great trip! Oh..wine and beer were available where we ate but not on Egyptair...nor was ice served on Egyptair. Plenty of smoking though!
