Well my goodness, Porini Mara delivered cheetahs and a leopard right away, didn't it? Is that you looking so embarrassed as the birthday cake arrives at Rhino camp?

From a gameviewing perspective, did you much much of a difference between Porini Mara and Porini Lion? I'm a real rough-and-tumble type so amenities are not important (other than en-suite! ) but wildlife, lack of crowds/other vehicles, etc., are.

Thanks for posting your album!

Leely2 - Yes, 'tis me I hate to admit. The red face is a combination of windburn/cold and embarassment. And OMG, the hair is just horrible! I forgot that I'm posting these hideous pix of me for all the world to see. Of course, DH always looks great in photos.

Anyway, I'd say the wildlife viewing is similar. Mara's drive is much farther from the border of the Mara park, but both are located in huge Masai areas. Both do full-day game drives in the Mara park of course. The Mara guides seemed have a little bit of an edge over the Lion guides, in terms of ability to spot things, communications skills, personality, etc. Sounds a little superficial, but those things really make a difference when you're spending 2-4 ten-hour days with your guides.

c_d2 - generally don't have a pop-up issue and haven't in years; will try again and see what luck I have.

twaffle - I'll take my twiga (tall blonds) for the best eyelashes

Sandi, no doubt if it was a competition, twiga would beat fisi madoa, but I still think the hyaena is hard done by. The females reign supreme, they are survivors and I think they are pretty interesting. So I like to defend them when I can.

(BTW, I don't prefer hyaenas to giraffe, just to be clear)

Simba - It's a tough choice - but I'd probably go with Lion, given the more exciting lion experiences at night. That said, we liked our guides at Mara better. You couldn't go wrong either way.
