Renting a car in Capetown
What is the best way to rent a car in Capetown?
|
if you are flying in, rent at the airport. i can recommend Avis, they were very helpful to me. i am sure there are locations in the city also.

hi, lori,
we are arriving early/late evening, so our car is being delivered to our hotel the next morning. though my researches suggest that we might not need it til we leave CPT! regards, ann |
Ann,
Who did you rent from? Thanks lori |
sorry, lori,
we are doing all this through a UK based agent [I'm too much of a wimp to do it all myself with DHand kids in tow for 1st time 5000 miles or so from home] and i can't find who our car hire is booked with. if you do a search for Selwyn on this forum [his knowledge is encyclopaedic]he will surely be able to help you. regards, ann |
lori5448,
If you intend travelling outside of the radius of 200Km of Cape Town then I suggest that you book your car through Tempest Car Hire who presently have excellent rates in town as far as the big name car hirers are concerned. The important point to make is that Tempest (like AVIS, Imperial, Hertz and Budget) have pick up and drop off points outside of Cape Town which is very important if you are going to do long distance travelling eg. down the Garden Route. http://www.tempestcarhire.co.za If you do not intending travelling out of Cape Town then I would suggest that you use Value Car Hire, http://www.valuecarhire.co.za, as their rates are always the ones to beat in Cape Town and their cars are always in an excellent state. No question about the fact that they are the best deal for getting around Cape Town if you stay within the 200Km radius. Hope this helps. Very proudly part of the wonderful ((R))nation of South Africa |
