Recommendations for Private Tour Guide in Jerusalem
We're looking for a knowledgeable tour guide (a professor?) who who can lead two people on a tour of Jerusalem and the surrounding area later this month. If you know of someone you can recommend, we'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi Stricky,
We used (and loved) Yoni Shapira (yoni-lin @ netvision .net.il ) mobile: 972-52-3675943 Also archaeological seminars group in Jerusalem can coordinate an archaeologically oriented guide for you. http://www.archesem.com, [email protected], contact: Heidi Stern 02 5862011 Enjoy your trip! Jerusalem has so much to offer. |
She is not a professor but a very knowledgeable tour guide, Dina Horn. Her website is http://www.enjoy-israel.com/. We (2 families with older children) used her for a 10 day trip to Israel.
We adored her, in fact, I miss her. She was not only a tour guide, but by the end of the trip, she was our friend. Most licensed Israeli tour guides are very knowledgeable. They have extensive training. |
Any licensed tour guide in Israel is knowledgeable. It is also important to use a licensed guide as you risk your tour being interrupted mid-tour if the authorities find out. Some unlicensed people tell you that you should say they are a "friend" guiding you.--Totally unethical in my opinion.
That being said I recommend Suzanne Pommeranz. A resident of Jerusalem she IS licensed and knows her stuff. My ONLY problem when I've traveled with her is that I go into information overload and need to tell her to stop. She is so full of information that it just oozes out of her every minute! She can be reached at [email protected] BTW she was just recommended in Frommers New Jerusalem Day by Day guide |
You're all so helpful! Thank you for taking the time to respond.
