Beginning to plan for Israel trip..

Hi, I'm hoping to visit Israel in about 2 years from now. I will probably travel in April or May for about 10/11 days.

For starters, which airport code should I use for a flight from Philadelphia or Newark - Tel Aviv, TLV or SDV?

I am hoping to find an escorted tour that will include most of these places: BaHa'i Gardens, Nazareth, the Dead Sea, maybe Jerusalem - is Jerusalem safe to visit? I also am interested in taking the cable car to Masada. Can all these places fit into an escorted tour?

Please share any input or advice you might have about any of these places. Thanks, Greg

Two years is a very long time in advance to start doing any detailed planning.

TLV is the international airport - you would fly there - SDV will probably be closed by the time you visit here.

There are so many different escorted tours and you have listed the basics that are part of most if not all of these tours.

Yes, Jerusalem is safe - safer than many other places in the world.

Thanks for replying. I realize 2 years is a fairly long time to plan anything.

It's just that this will be my first international trip and I'm trying to get an idea of what to expect.

Why will SDV probably be closed then? Does it currently accept flights from the USA? I asked about Jerusalem because I had heard it was important to pray for peace there, so I wasn't sure if there was an issue with the Palestine region.

I want to visit some Christian sites, but I also want to learn more about Israel's culture. I hope to visit the markets and a nightclub in Tel Aviv. Greg

SDV is a small airport for only domestic flights so it would not have been relevant for you at all.

While I understand that you want to plan ahead at this point, this far out I suggest you do some reading, follow forums online for more information (the most active Israel forum is on Trip Advisor) and collect your questions -- yes, it is safe to visit Israel, including Jerusalem - beyond that for realistic replies you really need to wait till you are about 6-9 months out.

Finding a tour guide is best option and you don't have to worry about your tour because they take care of your whole journey.
