Suggest 'Amandla!' - a great look at how important music was in the fight against apartheid
Agree with 'Tsotsi', 'Constant Gardner', 'Hotel Rwanda' and 'Sometimes in April'
Older movies that have very different flavors but are still good: 'The God's Must Be Crazy', 'Cry Freedom', 'The Power of One',
cooncat,
Curious where you saw 'Invisible Children'. Friends of our produced it.

"Gorilla's In the Mist" is the true story about Dian Fossey saving the Rwandan mountain gorillas who worked under Dr. Leaky. It is said that without her efforts, they'd be extinct by now.
I'll be in Rwanda in July!

Filmed in Rwanda-a new movie,
"Shooting Dogs"
Based on the genocide starring John Hurt, Hugh Dancy and a mostly British cast. Had the world premiere at Amahoro Stadium in Kigali not long ago.
It may have already opened in the UK.
One of the vets from Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project (MGVP), Chris, has a small cameo of which he is very proud.
Hopefully it didn't end up on the cutting room floor.

robertsmyth - I saw Invisible Children in one of our high schools in Lincoln, Nebraska. Some of the students got together after hearing of the children and raised a bunch of money for them - I'm thinking $2,000-$3,000 or something like that. Not bad, for teen-agers! When the producers got wind of their effort, they detoured and came to Lincoln where it was shown a few times, I believe.
Cheers~

"Invisible Children" is an entire project that came out of the short film about the child soldiers of Uganda. If you are interested, their website is at http://www.invisiblechildren.com/hom...n.com/home.php

Anyone ever see "Mogambo" w/ Clark Gable, Grace Kelly and Ava Gardner?
Saw it for the first time about a month ago on TCM. What a hoot!
Gotta love the way the women dressed while in the middle of Africa.
And quite interesting gorilla footage they superimposed during a few scenes.
