Recent experience with Around Morocco or Authentic Morocco Tours

My husband and I will be heading to Morocco in October, and we are looking for a tour company that will work with us to customize a tour where we can be mostly independent but still rely on guides and a driver when we need them. Any info on these two companies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thank you Matt!

Matt registered to post that review. Apparently was an ad.

Yes, an elaborate but very professionally written ad.

Well that is disappointing..
Thanks for letting me know.

Macksix - I generally travel solo, and independently arrange my trips, but have worked out an itinerary with Liz of Authentic Morocco for a 10 day trip in November. Still going solo, but will have a car and driver, with a city guide for segments of the trip. I've been pleased with her responsiveness to my numerous queries, and she kept my budget in mind in fine tuning the itinerary. I did first receive estimates from a few companies, before deciding on her company. Deposits and payments are financially secure. There are reviews on Trip Advisor under 'day trips' for some reason. By far the vast majority of the reviews are highly complimentary, only one review had issues. Kind of read as if his expectations of the country were unrealistic, but blamed the tour company. While I have yet to take the trip, so far ... I'm pleased! Hope this helps.

Hi macksix,
I'm an actual traveler who visited Morocco last March. In fact, the review is something that my wife and I have had on our To-Do list for too long and we finally finished it on Superbowl Sunday. As there is a thriving amount of fear, uncertainty, and doubt on the Fodors forums, I've posted the same review to a personally hosted site. Contact me on twitter (@mweagle) and I'll send you the address.

I would post the address here, but have had my account immediately suspended thanks to the "comments" provided by those above and am worried that it'll be suspended again.

use a search box in Google is much better choice than getting false ideas here.
Good Luck.

I agree with you Alex - there is a lot of false information being spread here, which unfortunately dissuades people from visiting Morocco. That is truly sad, as it's a great country to visit and the negative comments on this and similar threads are initially offputting.

its not helpful when there is a honest trip report get posted here then somone flag it, why is that in your opinion.
where is the trip report which was published about around morocco tours that was honest and genuine.
dont let anyone stop you from usin a certain company its much better with a local tour.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I have also been in contact with Liz at Authentic Morocco, so I will see what ideas she has for our itinerary.
Matt - We will contact you on Twitter.

Good luck macksix.

I've moved my report to http://moroccotripreport.com/ to comply with Fodor's forum posting guidelines.

It is unfortunate, but true, that Morocco attracts far more than its share of advertising and spam on Fodors. Compared to almost any other country it is practically an epidemic, lol. Any TR from a first time poster is likely to be pulled as there is no way to verify that it is genuine. Simply posting it somewhere else doesn't convince me, although it may convince others. I look for posters with a track record of at least asking questions before they travel.
