Real Egypt

We (a group of four) got told of Real Egypt by a previous visitor - a lot of their business seems to be by recommendation/word of mouth. We're usually independent travellers but countries like Egypt present difficulties that just result in less time actually spent on the things you want to do. However we're not into the big tour group thing - 'fit in with our dates/schedule/itiinerary". So, a company like Real Egypt is the best compromise - they tailor everything to your needs and timing and cater for small (even 2) to medium groups. They'll suggest an itinerary after finding out your previous experiences, interests, sense of adventure etc and then you can simply tweak it as you see fit. Even during the tour you can always make adjustments - sometimes inevitably when delayed by transport etc.
Samir and his team could not be faulted - everything was arranged for us and nothing was too much trouble. A lot of the other reviews detail the services and we simply echo the same praises but suffice to say that they seem to want do what's best for YOU rather than for profit - a motive that I've always believed leads to a better business anyway but sadly all too rare.
We had 8 days and being the first time to Egypt of course we wanted to do all the mainstream things - Pyramids, temples, Nile cruise etc but we also enjoyed donkey and camel rides, visiting a Nubian village and walking around old Cairo. Our guides (Ahmed in Cairo and Moamen in Luxor/Nile cruise) were fantastic in their relaying of information both about the ancient world and modern day society. You spend a lot of time with them (Moamen even accompanied us on the cruise) so it's important to get along and we all quickly felt like they were our friends. The drivers used were also very good (and seeing Cairo traffic you quickly understand the importance of that!), the cruise boat first rate and choice of lunch spots (most included in the price) exceptional. The cost seemed very cheap after all we had experienced.
We have no hesitation in recommending Samir's company for anyone seeking to experience Egypt at whatever level suits them.

I'm glad you enjoyed your trip. When did you go? Did you run into any problems especially with the trouble going on there now? What hotels did you stay in?
