Rates at Royal Mara

I'm thinking if taking another week in the Mara early next year. Does anyone know the rates at Royal Mara ?

The rack rates were originally on their site... no more. As I recall, when first seeing the site, the prices weren't inexpensive.

You can write to Royal Mara direct, or put it out to an agent. Of course, depending on when you travel, rates will reflect the season.

There are a couple of Royal Mara auctions on Luxurylink. I assume the "retail value" is equivalent to their rack rate.

Here's one for Jul 1 - Sep 30:

http://www.luxurylink.com/auctions/a...;WT.ac=MOPLEXO

And one for Dec 1 - Mar 31 and Oct 1 - Dec 15:

I've been very tempted to bid but don't know when I might get back to Kenya (other than this coming Jan/Feb but that's already planned).

Based on the LuxuryLink offering, the rack rate depending on season is coming in at between $630 - $830/person day. This is without daily park fees ($40 to Apr 30'08; $60 from May 1,'08) and return air from Wilson/Mara/Wilson.

These rates are actually higher than many of the other "lux" properties in the Mara.

No, the rates are lower than that!

It is a bit complex to publish here due to Full-board vs Package rates and the 3 different seasons so it is best to read the full explanation:

CHSL -

Thanks for your link w/prices which make more sense. Still on the higher end, but competitive for small camp and their services.

Thanks, Eben! Does the game package rate include exclusive vehicle use?

No, private cars are $300 per day.

Their policy is max 4 people in a shared car, but can do 6 in a pinch.

That's probably what's accounting for the retail value difference on the LL package then, plus maybe a few other extras like the night drive. Thanks again, Eben!

Retail value is more like $4500.

If you can win the bid for under $3200 then it will be a great deal IMO.

From $3200-$4500 I suggest you check with an agent first. More than $4500, forget it!

Sonali, I do not commment on guiding! Sorry!
