Quick question about Kenya..
Hi all. 2 friends of mine are traveling to Kenya in April for some volunteer/missions work. I was curious what are some popular souvenirs that people bring home from Kenya. I'm hoping to put in a request, lol. Thanks, Greg

Wood carvings. We brought home replica's of a Maasai man and woman that are beautiful - hand carved

Ditto on the Maasai man & woman wood carvings.
Also brought back a nice carving of an ele for my desk. Tons of earrings but I see you're a guy so you may not be interested altho the brightly coloured Maasai bead bracelets look pretty cool on guys and all the Maasai wear them, several in fact. http://www.newyorksocialdiary.com/NY...h/P1120393.jpg If not beaded there's some pretty cool copper bracelets too. http://galleryplus.ebayimg.com/ws/we.../1000x1000.jpg Brought my 20 year old nephew back a T-shirt with a Tusker beer label on it and I don't think he's taken it off since! And that was in 2011!!! :-d http://www.theafricahouse.com/media/.../ts-tskr-b.jpg |

Can you still get carved black giraffe statues? My mum had a few of those from her time there. I'm hoping to back and get some of my own as they are so nice

There is a variety of things you could find as souvenirs from Kenya. A great place to shop for this other than the curio shops all over the country, would be at the Maasai markets set up on various days in Nairobi such as;
Wednesday – Capital Center along Mombasa rd Thursday – The junction Mall along Ngong road Friday – The Village market along Limuru road Saturday -The High court parking in the city Center opposite Re-Insurance Plaza Sunday -Yaya Center along Valley Road in Hurlingham - See more at: http://www.kenyanpoet.com/2014/04/04....z6xpBEe0.dpuf |
