Question re gorilla permit fees - going up?

Hi. My husband and I are thinking about maybe going to see the gorillas in Rwanda. I was thinking we might wait til summer of 2014 but just read something in a very recent review on TripAdvisor (from this September) saying the fees are going up from $500 to $1000 in 2014. Anyone know if this is true? If true, and we want to do 2 gorilla treks, that would be a substantial difference for two people over two treks, might make it worth going in 2013 instead!

Thanks

Believe the increase went into effect as 1st July '12 to $750/person per trek (not $1,000... but who knows if there will be another increase for '14).

Hmm ... ok, thanks Sandi - I will try to ask the person who said this on TA because that person would also be able to tell me if they paid $500 or $750 just recently. On Volcanoes Safaris website, they still say $500 but I don't know if that is updated. I will try to see if I can find the most up-to-date and official information and, if I do, will post it here. Thanks.

Well, I found this which indicates Sandi is right - that it is already up to $750 as of June 1, 2012.

Possible the person who paid $500 had purchased prior the date of the increase to $750. They grandfathered in those who did and so they didn't have to pay the additional $250.

... it's so stated on the link provided above by Jane62.

Also, it's not unusual for specific outfitter websites not to be updated in a timely manner. The current fee is $750/person/trek.
