Qatar Airways ?
(accidentally posted this on Asia forum)I have been watching airfares since December to go from East Coast (USA) to Germany/Switzerland. I discovered a rate which saves us each $400 for a non-stop flight via Qatar Airways.....any comments of prior experiences would be appreciated.

While annoying, its not uncommon for local taxes to be collected in some destinations. I am flying out of Nicaragua today, and I have to pay US$32 at the airport, adn I've made similar payments in the last year (including in New Zealand).
I have no info about Qatar Airways other than you can earn United miles (I am considering flying Qatar Airways to Sri Lanka, so I looked into them).
I'm sure they are fine -- the Middle East carriers are generally pretty good.
I think they fly from EWR to Geneva, which is not that long a flight.

Not unusual, but often these "local" taxes are assessed when departing countries and are small amounts... sometimes referred to as "departure fees."
I'd certainly check with the airline how much $$$ before you get to the counter.
