Profiles and pictures?
OK, I admit, I am the nosiest person around. So, I go checking out folks' profiles, and there's nothing there, or hardly anything. :o C'mon, how about some pictures, so we can see what you look like :-?
(hope these smileys come out right, need preview...) |
Thre's more than you think. Asia forum is way ahead of this one.
|
Well, the picture space provide is rather small to do me proper justice. But I'll look around and see what I can find :O)
regards - tom ps - I'm <blue>Be the first to reply</blue> do I get a prize? |
OH NO!!!! My smiley is a <i>clown</i> smiley!!! That's <b>not</b> me!!! But without a "preview" how am I to know???
regards - tom 3:-O |
I dunno, Tom. Clown sounds right on the money to me 8-|) he, he, he
((D)) and lots of folks in Europe have posted their pictures, all very European looking ((H)) |
So, Tom, you have moved over here to another thread to annoy me with your smileys and italics and exclamation points. And encouraging others to boot. I'm going to start giving fines, a la gpanda.
|
Don't worry, the novelty for me has worn off. Back to plain ordinary Business English. What you do have to worry about though is that my photo is up on my profile! And BTW, I just noticed I was not the "Be first to reply" here (story of my life). Congratulations LAL, you were, you're a <del>wiener</del> I mean winner!
regards - tom ps - what's a "gpanda" |
Hey Tom, I see that you are in southern California. It might be nice to be meet sometime. Maybe the profiles can be helpful!
|
Hey Mike, I live in Fullerton, near Calif State Fullerton. Hawthorne is not that far away! Carla here was trying to arrange a LA GTG in March. Don't know how that stands, did you see it? I'll email her. Regardless, let's do GTG sometime, compare notes on Sabi Sand camps, ISOs, swap tales of photos that-got-away, next safari etc. And, anyone else in the neighborhood?
regards - tom |
Yeah, I met Carla last year, it was fun meeting. I do live near her. I saw about the GTG and if its in march, I can probably do it. It you look at my profile, you will see my email address and you can email with your information. Yes it would be nice to get together no matter what. I live near LAX.
So far as I know, no one else that has been there, but I do know people who want to go! |
Mine's been up for days now! I was hunting for more to read too!
|
I am so, so, so jealous of your cheetah profile Lynda.
|
If you are interested in Asia there is an LA area get together coming up (the same weekend?) in March:

I put posted a pic of myself (don't have a dog!)
|
mytmoss, my what big teeth you have...
|
At least I am smiling :]
|
Great! I added a picture only to discover that, if you add an image smaller than the exact pixel dimensions listed, it will stretch your image to fit, rather than leaving empty space around it! So my image is looking horribly pixelated!
WORSE STILL, I can't see any way of removing it other than replacing it with another picture! |
i don't know, kavey, it's kinda artsy. it has a certain je ne sais quoi...
|
Your pictures are wonderful! - kavey, I think that pixelated look really goes with the spirit of your picture. Maybe you could photoshop it to make it bigger to fit?
Mike, that looks like a very satisfied smile. Aknards, where are you? looks like a salt pan? Elizabeth, LOVE that iguana! Femi, what a great shot of a (your?) cat - a perfect pose and Tom, is that your great white hunter pose? One of the tags in the Lounge is for GTG's. I'm going to one in DC where there will be all kinds of Fodorites, and so far, no one from Africa - so, Tom and Mike you could go to the Asia one, and inject some African something... |
Yeah Mom, the great white hunter!! (Arrives on the kill scene long after the bones are bleached white!!). But anyway, does convey that I'm a <b>manly man</b>, does it not?!?!
Good idea about the Asia GTG, maybe Mike would like to meet there. And anyone else (Carla?). Anyone know date? Not listed in top 25. I did search on Asia forum for "gtg" and nothing came back. So, what else is new? regards - tom |
I am somewhere or other in my profile pic, I think
|
just got to know how to search:
http://www.fodors.com/community/asia...s-gtg-2009.cfm seems to be March 20, didn't read much more. I love your picture, rizzuto, where was it taken? |
We all clicked on Lynda's profile and saw the cheetah photos and felt unworthy of competing in the photo category.
My profile is a fait accompli. |
I was a bit confused by all the posts re the Asia GTG, I got the date was 3/20 but I am not sure where and the time. I would consider it as it might be a lot of fun.
Mike |
I got the date as Saturday Mar 21. But never did figure out where.
regards - tom |
Tom please email me so that I have your email address too. You can get mine via my profile.
|
Momliz, Aknard's photo was one I took of our group when we were near the eastern shore of Lake Manyara, near Maramboi Camp. There was a salty crust on the ground that got progressively wetter the closer we came to the lake. My profile photo is one she took of me at a Maasai village in Sinya Reserve.
|
Thanks, Momliz -- I took it in Prague, in front of a shop that sells marionettes.
|
Shay, great photo, love it!!
There are a lot people missing from this game...come out, come out wherever you are. |
I've filled out my profile but I was too lazy to find a picture of me so I just posted one I was working on. I will have to look for one since all of you have posted "real" photos. :)
|
Momliz,
What do Europeans look like are they almost human or aliens? |
I think the main day for the Asia board GTG is the 21st. You could e-mail Filmwill for more details or respond to the post.
|
Ah but momliz, I don't want to post a bigger version, I quite like the slight anonymity of a smaller thumbnail picture! I do have larger versions but had deliberately uploaded the small one I use for online profile slots!
|
OK, since I clearly can't remove the bloody thing, have uploaded larger version!
|
Kavey, that's a very fun photo. Love it!
|
Heh, thanks, a friend took it! Basically, I'd organised a GTG for a photography site and, after wandering about London all day, we ended up in Covent Garden in the evening. As it was shortly before Christmas, they had a merrygoround in the square. No-one else would go on it so I paid my money and hopped onto one of the last free horses, over on the opposite side to where the rest of the gang were waiting. As I came around the first time, 13 flash guns went off, as every member of the gang took my photo. They were all standing in a line at the ready! This happened each time I came back round, it was like being stalked by the paparazzi, it was hilarious! Even funnier when someone came up and asked my husband who the celebrity was! Anyway, this is one of the photos one of my friends took, which I particularly like as it's clear how much fun I was having on the merrygoround. And also, I look slightly demented, which is, so I'm told, my natural state!
|
surkamp - Europeans look something like the rest of us (but the backgrounds aren't as cool!)
kavey, both photos are so alive! |
