Private vehicle pricing.

I've been given a quote of US$250 per day for a private vehicle @ Tafika.
How does this compare with other camps?

Cheers
Marc

At Kings Camp, South Africa, I was told a private vehicle was an additional 2,000 Rand per day, about $280 USD.

I was quoted roughly $400/day for a private vehicle at some of the Wilderness Camps. There may have been a slight discount since it was for 8 days. So $250 seems pretty good.

Many thanks for your input.
It seems like quite a fair price, and will book a day or two with Bryan Jackson (thanks to Sharon);-)
BTW, does anyone know how much it would be @ Kaingo?....Sharon, again?

Cheers
Marc

I am curious. Just how many people hire the private vehicle at those prices?

Luangwablondes,

Only ONE at a time, that's why it's private.

Ok, I am getting a little [email protected] as I prepare to leave for my first South Africa trip in 10 minutes.

I did a private vehicle only once and that was to stay out all day with the hunting lions at Duba Plains. In general going private is too steep for me.

Private vehicles are much too expensive at most camps. The cheapest by far is Kwando, it was $190 per day but may have risen recently. Also you will get very good game viewing, a guide and a tracker and if URI have delivered all of the promised vehicles the most capable and comfirtable vehicles.

Kwando has announced a new rate scheme for private vehicles, starting 1 December 2007. Actually you pay for the empty seats in the 6-seat vehicle, US$ 50/65/75 (secret/green/high season) for each remaining seat.

For instance, 2 clients pay US$ 200 in Secret Season, and 4 clients pay US$ 100. In Green Season it's US$ 260 for 2 clients, or US$ 130 for 4 clients. In High Season it's US$ 300 (2) or US$ 150 (4).
