Hi Tom
As good luck would have it I am still here at MalaMala. Weather has been really freezing cold the last few days, but warm again now. Have had some great gameviewing - this morning it was hyena - a female and pup about 8 months and then onto the den with an adult, subadult and one pup about 1 month or so, my highlight this morning. Also saw the Charleston Pride on what we hoped was a hunt, but as it warmed up they just lay down. Yesterday had two great leopard sightings, Bicycle Crossing Male with a female impala up a tree in fantastic light and we were in a great position! Then last night, the Rock Drift Male killed a baby kudu and though we missed the kill, we saw him on our way home. Have still not see the Eyrefield cubs which I am desperate to see, although did have one very distant visual of 1 cub and later on we could hear at least 2 cubs in the reeds in the Sand River, but no visual.
Not sure what are arrangements are for this afternoon. This trip I have now seen 15 leopard which is very fortunate. Also hoping to see the larger pack of wild dog, but have been lucky enough to see the male and female, both before food and after food. Think I have taken some good photos, but still have 2 weeks here, so plenty of great gameviewing still to come!
Kind regards,
Kaye

Hi Tom and Matt
Sorry Tom but that is the way it is!
Matt, if you mean the Rock Drift Male, he is looking pretty good and obviously has the looks and the killing skills, but just not the strength to keep a territory! He was gone the next day, but did have fantastic hippo viewing this morning, with some great interaction between what was probably two young males! It is going to be about 100 degrees today, so I am already wishing the cool weather back again.
Kind regards
Kaye

We have been to Mala Mala 3 different times. We have had the vehicle to ourselves and also with other people. We did not find sharing the vehicle took away from the excellent game viewing the rangers work so hard to get us up close to the animals. We are also avid photographers and took hundreds of pictures. We also found out that our 2 games drives each day, averaging about 4 hours each time was more that adequate to get some wonderful shots. We can not recommend it highly enough. The attention to detail you will receive, the knowledge of the rangers and the overall service will be beyond your wildest dreams. Private vehicle? Up to you, I can almost guarantee you a win win situation on that. Have fun, enjoy your trip and be preparted to leave a piece of your heart there. Mike and Louise Blackwell, Huntsville, AL.

we stayed at main camp. The only difference i observed was that rattrays units had a dipping pool for each room .We have yet to go in swimming while we were thair. If it dont have a high dive its not a swimming pool. somthing leftover from my childhood.
