Private guide in Israel
 

My husband and I are thinking about traveling to Israel & Petra in Oct. or November. We do not want to go on a tour. Can anyone recommend a guide?

October and November are fantastic months to travel to both Israel and Petra, and a private guide is easily the best way to go.

I highly recommend Arnon Eshel ([email protected]). He is a wonderful Guide, creative and knowledgeable and, pricewise, is extreme;ly reasonable. He is located in the Tiberias area but can accompany you throughout Israel.
As for Petra, if you are only intending to visit Petra, you can contact any of the tour companies in Jordan (many are mentioned on this Board). You can also get a Guide at Petra for a small fee.

As JerryS implied many/most Israeli guides can't guide in Petra but they should be able to help you get coordinated with someone who can drive you and guide you there.
