Precautions

To all Potential travelers to any part of Africa. Irrespective of the time of year, Ensure you have taken your Malaria tablets. I could not believe that some people are traveling to Africa thinking that because it is winter time there is less chance of being bitten.

There are 4 strains of Malaria:-

Of all the species of malaria, four main ones infect humans – these are P. falciparum, P. vivax, P. ovale and P. malariae. A fifth species, P. knowlesi, usually infects macaque monkeys in South East Asia but has been known to cross over to humans. Each of these species causes slightly different manifestations of the disease in humans, and even within the species, there are regional strains and variations. Probably the most distinct internal division within a malaria species is within P. ovale, where two sub-species are currently recognised: P. ovale curtisi and P. ovale wallikeri. These two forms are identical morphologically (that is, in the way they look under the microscope) but can be differentiated genetically.
.
In some countries you also need Yellow fever certificates. If you do not have these you will be denied entry into the country and face Isolation in Hospital on return, Africa is a wonderful stimulating place, it is also Deadly if you do not Adhere to Medical precautions, Having a dicky stomach for a few days is Minimal compared to the risks of Malaria,

Have fun an enjoy a wonderful country.
