Thanks for posting the great photos. The lions in the tree were something i have not seen before (in photos-as i have not yet gone on my first safari) and the leopard shots were amazing, but i think my favorites were of the baby vervet monkey.

Yes, that baby vervet is great. I liked the lions in the trees and the big male in the grass on the ground. The clouds gave some dramatic sky shots.

Has anyone else noticed a lot of repeated words or phrases, such as above, when you are quite sure that such did not appear in your original writing?

Wonderful photos and a good variety. I must start taking some of people, while I do at home, I never seem to when I am away.

Certainly better sleeping dogs than no dogs at all. Also do not think I have ever seen young subadult male waterbuck, which seems amazing. The female cub of the Ngoboswan Female is an extremely photogenic leopard, isn't she? That dead ele bull was really gross, don't think I could take a photo as not something I want to really remember! I am always hoping that they have a quick death, but probably not.

I was very sad to hear that one of the cubs of the Eyrefield Pride is missing - hard to believe that they survive during those tough little cub stage to go missing now. We saw very little of them last time and a lot of the Styx Pride. You also saw 4 Eyrefield Males while for the last few times we have seen the same two only - very distinctive one with the mohawk and the more dominant one with the break near his tail tip.

Leon looks wrong out of ranger's uniform, even after all this time. His birthday cake look fabulous, must have been the new chef!

Did you guys drive yourself to Pafuri? I have never really thought about driving myself. Food for thought as they say!

We were lucky(!) and the weather co-operated both ways for us to fly to and from Pafuri. For you driving to Mashatu, it might be an option to be driven that far, overnight and then drive on the next day.

wow, wow, wow, great sightings/photos! makes me sooo longing to go back. i just went for the first time this past september and didn't see half the wildlife you saw. (luck of the draw, even tho i did have the time of my life.)

Great photos, Elke and Matt. Nice to see Leon and Nils again. How did Leon like being driven instead of driving? You guys dressed for dinner? What's up with that? I guess it's a little different in winter because you just about have to dine in a warm coat it's so cold. Pafuri looks very nice. How does it compare with MM?

The dogs look like it hasn't been too long since they've eaten. You have some nice pictures of them. And the Styx pride. Love the pics of them walking down the road and those cubs are so darned cute. The dead elephant, did any of the rangers see (or hear) the fight? I knew elephants fought but didn't really think about it being "to the death". Tree climbing lions, what are they teaching them at MalaMala?? Love img 8252 and the rhino road block. Very cool.

Did Elke have a new camera? I noticed some of the file #'s were in the low hundreds.

Great photos (for some reason I couldn't get them before and was frustrated looking at everyone else's comments!)Some different poses - I like the rhino road block too. Certainly makes the green season look attractive.

I've been avoiding Africa pictures because we're going to Asia and I don't want to feel I've made a terible mistake. But I couldn't help myself, and now, oh, the pain! The baby vervet. The red bishop (never seen one). The oodles and oodles of lions. And leopards. And gorgeous fever trees. Thanks, but damn you, for sharing.
