photos from our trip to Africa - better late than never!

Months ago everyone here was very helpful with all of my questions before I went to Africa with my parents.

In Febuary 2010 we travelled to Egypt for two weeks. By the first of March we made our way to East Africa to safari in Kenya and Tanzania. Looking back now it seems like it was years ago!

I am so thankful that I had the chance to travel to Egypt. There were moments when I found the culture very difficult. I am not sure I would return to Egypt but I am so thrilled that I had the opportunity to visit. Here is a link to some of the photos that I took in Egypt if anyone is interested:

The time we spent on safari was magical. Kenya and Tanzania are beautiful and welcoming countires. I would return in a heartbeat. I am an animal lover so this was a trip that pulled at my heartstrings. We had the fortune of seeing the BIg Five. Here is a link to some of the photos that I took on safari:

Thank you again everyone!

Enjoyed looking at your pictures. It was nice that you got to see Edfu in the evening, outside of the hot sun. I would've loved to have done that.

BTW, You have Edfu labeled as 'Kom Ombo' and Kom Ombo labeled as 'Edfu' :)

Being a cheetah fan, I noted your sighting of one in the crater. Nice zebra rolling action. Egypt and safari is a diverse trip. How fortunate you could do both.

Thanks for posting, never get tired of seeing pictures of Egypt and Africa!

Axel2DP:

Are you sure she has the Edfu/Kom Ombo label wrong !

Axel2DP Oct 6th, 2010 05:32 PM

Yes, the labels were reversed when I looked at it before. It has been corrected :).

The pictures are nice. I always enjoy watching pictures of places that I've visited.

Thanks for posting your photos. I'm leaving tonight for Egypt so the timing was perfect.

I'm considering a trip to Kenya and I would love your thoughts on Kenya vs. Tanzania in Feburary. I've been twice to Tanzania and would love to try Kenya. Any coments would be appreciated.

Hi wildlifepainter,

Enjoy your trip to Egypt!

I was in K & T the first two weeks of March. The weather was beautiful during the day (temperatures in the high 20C-low 30C range, mainly sunny with some light rain) and comfortable at night. We had hardly any issues with mosquitos and only had a bit of problems with the tsetse flies in the Serengeti.

Since I have nothing to compare it to I would say that the wildlife viewing was great. We saw the Big Five and many other animals. There were lots of adults and babies. We didn't really see any great migration scenes like river crossings, but did see some very large herds. When we were out on safaris during the day there were rarely any large groups of vehicles trying to view the same animals. Sometimes we went for hours without seeing another vehicle. For the 3 nights that we stayed in Masai Mara the lodge was almost empty. One night it was just my parents and I.

I absolutely loved Kenya and would go back every year if I could. I thoght it was a great time to visit b/c we got away from the worst part of the Canadian winter and enjoyed a fabulous vacation experience.
