Photos from Masai Mara Trips
I have finally put up some of my photos from my 2006 and 2007 trips to the Mara. No trip reports to go along with them. I'm not very good at putting details into writing.
We stayed at Kichwa Tembo (CCA Africa property) and always have a great time with our Guide Shieni Ropiara and the rest of the KTC Staff. I guess I am in a rut staying at Kichwa, but it is definitely my home away from home. Below are the links to the photos. 2006: http://www.kodakgallery.com/I.jsp?c=...&y=-np4hvp 2007: http://www.kodakgallery.com/I.jsp?c=...&y=-qlns8k |
Thanks for posting these. They are great.

Were these trips only to the Mara? I'm considering one of those.
2006: The migration shots were exceptional, whether in the river or on land. The pair of cheetahs were lovely. The elephants in the ruts (for lack of a better term) was fascinating. The Mara gave you a huge variety. What month dod you travel? |
Wonderful pictures, Dana - Sept looks like an animal rich time to go!
Lots and lots of lions, I don't recall seeing lions in the Mara either year we were there in May. (oh - just looked at my pictures, we saw one lone female this year) You had the tent right beside ours - both years we were in H5! |
Nice pics, Dana ...... you had two great years back to back!
|
2007: Great labels, very funny. More wonderful wildebeest herd crossing shots. I liked the cheetahs and the serval peeking through the grass. So many classic shots and not just animals.

Lynn - Yes, these trips were only to the Mara. We go in September, where the mornings and evening are still pleasantly cool. Thanks so much for the kind words on my photos. Thought my labels may sound corny to some.
Lynda - Good old tent #5 - stayed there a few times myself. Fabulous view of the plains right? |
Is #5 the best one to stay at at Kichwe Tembo? I will be there for the first time this January?

Personally I think tents 4-7 are great. Tent 6 used to have a King bed. All the others are two twin beds. All these tent porches afford an unobstructed view straight out onto the plains and also are not a far walking distance to the dining room/bar and to the entrance where you meet your Driver for your game drives. I hope you like it there as much as I do and have a wonderful time. Tell all there "DJ" says Jambo ;>) |
great 2007 photos! all the dead wildies was amazing. c'mon can you post just a brief trip report, at least where, dates, and tour operator and overall ratings of the above?

So many great Cheetah and Lion pics... And the Eagle Owl... What a spectacle in the migration -- if only you didn't have to put up with "all those OTHER vehicles..." Thanks for the really nice photos...

One man's corny is another's man's knee slapper. That goes for women too.
How long do you stay? I've spent 8 nights once and 9 another. Yes, those dead wildebeest. Hard to know what to say about them, but the photo makes an impact. Your photos show you really don't have to travel all over, just in the Mara. |
Great photos, now I am motivated to go there next September. My Rotary club is helping Nomad Charities with an orphanage, well and school in the the Masai area. Looking forward to a dual trip.....
Thanks! |
