Here are some of my favorites from my Nov-Dec 2005 trip. Haven't tried out Photoshop on them yet, just finished the class so I am eager to start experimenting. I am new to the digital world and learning new stuff everyday, its great!

Carla,

What a nice variety of shots which shows your overall African experience. It was great to see such diversity in your photo album. Looks like you had a wonderful time. Thanks for posting.

I like this album Carla - it shows a real diversity, not just the wildlife: my favourite has to be nš 16 the image of the woman with the black and white basket - some say it might look blurred and out of focus but to me it conveys her movement. I'm no expert but I'd like to convert that into b/w and up the contrast a little.

Thank you! We will be in Zambia and then Zimbabwe from mid-June to early July, first building with Habitat for Humanity, then at Victoria Falls and on safari in South Luangwa and Mana Pools. Thanks so much for including photos of people and places as well as animals!

Carla, Thanks for the great photo overview. Had a nice depth to it.

Katt58, Which Habitat build are you on? We'll be in Botswana on a Global Village trip in June. Then going to Vic Falls and Zambia.

Thank you for the nice comments. Matt, I converted that photo to B & W and played with the contrast and it was so cool, great idea! There is so much to learn with this Photoshop but is really fun once you get the hang of it.

Favor- I O.D'd with photos on the heli ride. It was one of the highlights. I would like to see the Falls in full force one day for contrast.

How do you get hooked up with Habitat for Humanity? Do you have to have building skills or can anyone do it?

robertsmyth Apr 11th, 2006 03:27 AM

Carla,

For Habitat for Humanity's Global Village information look at: http://www.habitat.org/gv/

Global Village is the international building projects. No, you do not need construction skills. Teams are made up of people with different backgrounds and skill levels. They look mainly for hard working, flexible folk with a heart to serve.

Its a great program. You get to work hard, meet interesting people - both on your team and in the local community - and experience a side of the culture than that tourists miss. Each project is run by a local affilate office.

All best in your travels!

Robert
